One of my heroes had a stroke. I’ve known him nearly a lifetime.
Kevin lovingly told me many years ago to quit talking so much about myself and my fabricated success stories. He said to stay quiet and listen to the wisdom and beauty of others. At the time, I did not have the courage to do that. For years, I kept blathering.
Now, my friend is courageously working at regaining his ability to fully function. During this time of challenge, he is mentoring me in ways he will never know. When he is asked what year it is, Kevin smiles before taking a wild stab at it. He’s off by decades. At lunch, when trying to figure out the real purpose of a fork and spoon, he thanks the nurse for being so patient.
Decades ago, Kevin owned a huge corporate space in a major international corporation.
Now, Kevin owns another space. Today he’s even more my hero.
