I love the wild horses of Nevada. I saw a herd for the first time 30 years ago, coming around a narrow canyon. I didn’t know whether to duck for cover behind a boulder or just continue to stare at them in amazement. Two stallions came forward, protecting a young foal and her mother. I was instantly in love.
Since then, I’ve admired many herds of wild horses in northern Nevada, dotting the Pine Nut Mountain Range. Lacey J. Dalton sings a song, “Let ‘Em Run,” describing the history and beauty of these magnificent animals. Each time I hear the song, I want to join the pack and be free on the range. I don’t need to be the top stallion, I just want to gallop along with the pack.
Much to my surprise, last Friday a pack of wild horses came down the mountain to visit The Change Companies®. It was if they were letting me know they had voted, and it was okay for me to join up.
If I don’t show up for work on Monday, you know where I’ll be.
