Life is formed as we make an endless number of choices every day.
Some choices are recognized for being huge in the moment, like deciding to marry a specific person or taking a job in a city far away.
Other choices are much more subtle and may even go unnoticed in the moment. A couple of those come to my mind.
I downed my first can of beer when I was around 14. No big thing. I was with friends. Yet, that first jolt of alcohol attracted my attention in one way or another for the next 60 years.
As a third grader in Ames, I wrote my first silly poem under the 9th Street bridge while waiting for my brother to show up. Then my mother read the poem and stuck it on the refrigerator door. I’m still writing. I made a career of it.
I’d be interested to learn about a little choice you made that turned out to be a whopping big deal.
