During all of the days of my youth, I never pondered once about what life would be like inside the old me. For example, in junior high school study hall, I never asked myself, ”Donnie, your ears are pretty substantial now, so how colossal will they be when you’re 78?” No. My eyes and imagination were dialed in on the beautiful Lana Judge. Nor did I pay much attention to anyone over the old age of 30 other than my parents, and then, only when circumstances forced me to do so.
I need to remind myself of this when young people don’t pay much attention to me. At times, I feel like the invisible man. Deep down, I have this crazy notion that I have much wisdom to offer to all the young folks.
On good days, when I’ve had a full night’s rest and a healthy breakfast, I recognize that younger people should stay focused on the wonders of being young. I had my shot and enjoyed it immensely. Some wisdom comes only through experience, not from some long-eared old guy.
