Boy is waiting for me each morning, just where I left him the night before. He is the leader of a band of animals who hang out on my bed during the day.
Some of my macho friends make fun of me, but I love the stuffed animals who keep me company when I read and write in my bedroom late at night. As a little kid, I didn’t have any stuffed “pals” to assuage my fears. Boy and his gang are making up for it by putting a smile on my face after the toughest of days.
Let me introduce you:
Boy… the tiniest of the gang, but definitely the brains and leader.
The Barking Brothers… they broke out of the Nevada State Museum to join Boy.
Bear-it… the muscle of the band. Not real bright.
Banana Boy… provides humor in an a-peeling way.
Trunk… works for Boy for peanuts.
Lesson: If you’re over 60, find something to connect you to your childhood. You will find a pot of joy and endless curiosity.
