Here are a few things I’ve learned over the first few months of my partial retirement:
1. If I need to call it partial retirement, it’s not really retirement. I am either retired or I’m still working. There’s no middle ground. Therefore, this should be the end of this blog on retirement, but I’m too vain to pay attention to my own truths. So what follows may be a bunch of hogwash.
2. If I’m rushing to complete a task, it’s because I’m attempting to make it feel like it’s more important than it really is. Retired folks need not rush.
3. There is no reason in the world for me to carry a big load in one trip. Make it two or more trips. I can sit down between each trip. No one is grading me.
4. My golf game may improve due to all the free time I have to spend at the driving range and the putting green. However, first I need to find my clubs.
5. My blood pressure can now drop, my sleep pattern can improve and that nervous twitch in my right eye can disappear. I’m only a month or two away from a medical miracle.
6. I can be carefree like little Donnie, jumping into the deep end of a Holiday Inn swimming pool, knowing my big brother is there to rescue me.
That’s all I know so far about retirement… it’s pure hogwash.
