Love comes in many forms.
Billy Bragg was our long-haired German Shepherd who led his pack for many years. He loved us dearly and showed it by giving us kisses on the face. However, Billy never learned the “art of the smooch.” He’d lead with his teeth. He made every effort to be gentle but German Shepherd teeth are German Shepherd teeth.
The nip marks on our noses and cheeks became marks of pride for both Sherry and me. The more scratches, the more proven love.
As I age, love is shown by family and friends in many ways. My grandchildren are specialists in the use of sarcasm and mimicry that can produce a little sting at first until I remember they are youthful displays of affection. My best friends do not allow truth or sensitivity to get in the way of a good story at my expense. They call it humor. I call it love.
Love is one of the greatest commodities on Earth. I’ll take mine in any way I can get it.
