One wonderful aspect of my semi-retirement is the opportunity to read more. I’d rather read than watch television, although I’m not exactly sure why.
I currently have four books next to four of my favorite chairs. I can just plop down, pick up a book and let it take my mind to interesting places.
Two of my current books – “Crossroads” by Johnathan Franzen and “Educated” by Tara Westover – require my careful attention. I enjoy reading each word and studying the sentence construction.
My fun book right now is “Ella Minnow Pea” by Mark Dunn. Then, late at night, I can be blown away by “The Remarkable Education of John Quincy Adams.” What a guy.
To be perfectly honest, when I just want to go on a joy ride that requires little thought, books by John Grisham and David Baldacci are still hiding on my bookshelf.
What’s your favorite book of the week?
