I like to ask that question of my friends. It gives me a refreshing perspective of what counts for them on the inside.
A few of my intellectual buddies (you know, the Ivy school crowd) came up with books I didn’t know and couldn’t pronounce. I wrote down the titles as if I was going to check them out. Fat chance.
Other friends of mine who were not burdened by too high of an education came up with books I’ve read and enjoyed. The most common ones were To Kill a Mockingbird, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Catcher in the Rye, Don Quixote and Animal Farm.
A book I really enjoyed recently is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. It didn’t knock out Don Quixote as my all-time favorite, but it captured my imagination for several evenings.
I’d like to know you better. So what’s your book?
